World War II veteran Jake LarsonBetter known online under the name of “Papa Jake”, died.
The social media star, who attracted 1.2 million followers to Tiktok, was 102 years “young”, according to her granddaughter, MCKAELA LARDON LARDON LANwho shared the news via a shared Instagram Account on Sunday July 20.
“It is with a heavy heart that I have to make this announcement. Our beloved Papa Jake died on July 17. Please, know that he went peacefully and even made jokes until the end,” wrote McKaela.
Jake, who became famous after McKaela began to share stories from her grandfather via social media, helped plan the Invasion of D-Day in 1944 and was the last remaining soldier of those who landed on Omaha beach in Normandy, France, by France, The New York Times.
