The star of besieged “flash” made a surprise appearance at the Cannes Film Festival during the weekend, hitting the red carpet after years of lie in the middle of a whirlwind of legal problems, disturbing allegations and public controversy.

Dressed in a brown tuxedo and a beret, Ezra Miller kept his head down, literally, quickly walking in front of the photographers and refusing to stop for photos, but their presence did not go unnoticed.

According to VarietyMiller was there to support the director Lynne Ramsay during the first of her latest film “Die, My Love”, which features Jennifer Lawrence And Robert Pattinson. Miller previously collaborated with Ramsay on the 2011 psychological thriller “We must talk about Kevin”.

Their return to Cannes marks the actor’s first major public appearance since “The Flash” failed the box office in 2023. The failure has closed a brutal stretch of titles involving arrests, accusations and alleged erratic behavior.

It all started to crash in April 2020, when a disturbing video surfaced showing Miller seeming to stifle a woman in a bar in Reykjavik, Iceland. The star of “Fantastic Beasts” was criticized online, but no accusation was filed.

In an Instagram video now deleted published at the beginning of the year, they seemed to constitute a frightening threat to the members of the Ku Klux Klan, declaring that the message was “not a joke” and should be “taken seriously”.

What followed was a series of arrests in Hawaii.

In March, Miller was accused of having caused a scene in a karaoke bar, shouting customers, grabing a woman’s microphone and lounging against a man playing darts. They were arrested and accused of disorderly driving, later arguing any competition and paying a fine of $ 500.

This same month, a married couple filed a ban on Miller after stating that the actor burst into his room, threatened to kill them and stole a passport and a portfolio. The case was abandoned two weeks later at the couple’s request.

But it didn’t end there. In April, Miller was arrested again, this time to have pretended a chair to a 26 -year -old woman after being invited to leave a private party, striking her.

In 2022 Miller apologized for their “past behavior” and said they were looking for help for “complex mental health problems”. But the list of incidents leading to this time is extended.

“After recently going through an intensity period, I now understand that I suffer from complex mental health problems and that I started a treatment in progress,” said Miller Variety at the time. “I want to apologize to all those I have alarmed and upset by my past behavior. I undertake to do the work necessary to return to a healthy, safe and productive stage of my life. ”

One of the most serious accusations involved Tokata Iron Eyes, an indigenous activist who met Miller at the age of 12 and they were 23 years old. His parents accused Miller of having “corrupted a minor” and presenting a behavior of “cult and psychologically manipulative”. Although the petition was removed later, the controversy haunted Miller’s reputation.

Tokata, now 21, has since turned with Miller in a group called Hundred in the Hand.
