Survivor’s Jeff Probst Reacts to Announcing Wrong Challenge Winner

It does not happen often, but even after 48 seasons, Survivor host Jeff Probst always makes mistakes.

His last error occurred in Wednesday, May 7, episode of Survivor 48When he wrongly called Joe Hunter The winner of the Final Seven Immunity Challenge.

“In a moment like that, when I make the bad call, the only thing in my mind is to correct the call immediately,” said Probst, 63, in the episode that accompanies him from the week of “On fire” podcast.

The challenge ended with an arc puzzle made of blocks which stated the word “unforgettable”. The socket was that the puzzle had to be identical on both sides, and Joe had a block out of words. Probst still declared Joe the winner before correcting himself immediately and giving victory to Kamilla Karthigesuwho correctly finished his puzzle a few seconds later.

Robert Vets / CBS Jeff Probst saw his fair share of tribal advice since Survivor was created 23 years ago – and he did not age. “There is a sentence that I said to myself years ago that has remained with me – which is one of the things I learned from Survivor – everyone has a story”, Probst, 61 years old, […]

“This is not the first time that I am wrong. I am sure it will not be the last,” Probst told Cohost Rachel Lamont and executive producer Jay Wolff. “And I think it is important that the public knows that these things happen.”

PROBST called multi -PHASE competitions like Wednesday “chaos controlled” while he tries to follow the seven remaining players in different parts of the challenge – adding his own comment while determining who assembles their puzzle correctly.

“You must be able to tell the story in real time of who is really close and could win,” added Probst. “But you must also tell the same story for someone who thinks that it is close, but is not, because the public can see that there is a letter that is false.”

Making his work even more difficult, Probst said he was not carrying a headset during the challenges, so there is no way for a producer to give him a warning if a player is about to wrongly solve the puzzle.

“It goes back to the very first tribal council of season 1 when Brand [Burnett] said, “Hey, they told me there was something you can put in your ear and I can talk to you.” And I said, “Yes, do you think you could give me a blow without that?” “Explained Probst.” Mark was so cool. He said, “Ok, everyone tells me that I should do that, but ok, Jeff, you are very demanding.” And from that moment, I never worn.

The most famous probst competition error occurred in season 7, Survivor: Pebble IslandsGenerally considered one of the best seasons of the show. In an immunity competition, the candidates were invited to properly spell the longest word that they could with individual blocks which stated the “islands of survivor pearls”. Probst declared Burton Roberts The winner, not realizing that he had badly spelled the “connection” as “Liason”. The shipwrecked had already started to leave the competition when Probst made his mistake and recalled them.

Survivor 48 Broadcast on Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. HE on CBS.
