Disney and Marvel Studios have just come out A brand new trailer for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”, “ Who offers our first overview of the film silver surfer (Julia Garner). The trailer begins with a speech from the scene of a fictitious talk show entitled “The Ted Gilbert Show”, with Gatiss representing Ted Gilbert. Although we did not see a ton of him in the images, with the exception of the opening piece, Gatiss is very convincing as a retro-futuristic version of a talk-show animator from the 60s, for sure. Its function is to somehow put how the fantastic four have become, which is a great way to move by making another original film like The “Fantastic Four” by director Josh Trank of 2015.

Gatiss may not be a familiar name or something like that in the United States, but it is better known in the United Kingdom and, even for the American public, it has been anchoring quality programming for some time. Aside from the aforementioned role of Tycho on “Game of Thrones”, it was also involved in a creative way in the franchise “Doctor Who”, both as a interpreter and writer. The public will also know him under the name of Mycroft Holmes in the BOTH “Sherlock” series of the BBC (which Gatiss also created). Not for nothing, but Gatiss even played a role in the adaptation of the “3 Body Problem” series from Netflix.

Mark Gatiss provides depth to an already stacked casting

We could continue to list Gatiss’s credits, which also include British favorites such as “The League of Gentlemen” and its many smaller roles in big films, among them “Mission: Impossible – Dead Cyling”. Point being, he joined an already very stacked cast directed by Pedro Pascal (“The Mandalorian”) as Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby (“Hobbs & Shaw”) as Sue Storm / Invalible Woman, Joseph Quinn (“The Bear”) as Ben Gremm / The Human Torch.

Matt Shakman (“Wandavision”) is in the director’s chair for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”, which is only one of the two huge films that Marvel has released this summer, with “Thunderbolts *” (which launches the season of the summer box office in early May). The two films are faced with enormous pressure to deliver the goods, so this trailer has a lot of weight to transport. As for history at hand? According to the official synopsis:

Forced to balance their hero roles with the strength of their family bond, [the Fantastic Four] Must defend the earth from a voracious space that God called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if the Galactus plan to devour the whole planet and everyone did not do it enough, it suddenly becomes very personal.

Indeed, this film will finally provide a more comic strips Galactus after the disaster which was “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”. So, a lot is happening, and it would be easy to have silence on a television game host in all of this. But the fact that even a character so far on the call sheet is played by a convincing actor is a good sign.

“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” will be released in theaters on July 25, 2025.
