Stargate: Atlantis Fan-Favorite Episode Is Die Hard In Space

THE Die hard A formula has been applied to all the imaginable parameters, from a battleship (Under the victory) to the White House (Olympus fell) And it always works. The formula is simple, put a character against overwhelming ratings which are slowly surmounted by guerrilla tactics and which carefully release the enemy. Stargate: Atlantis I used this formula in season 1 to two parts, “The Storm” and “The Eye”, by showing why John Sheppard is the most dangerous man in the city, and finally letting the fans see the military man stand out while he alone stops a genii assault.

Prepare the way

THE Stargate: Atlantis Duology begins with “The Storm”, focusing on an event once every 20 years when the ocean warms up and produced a storm, but this year, two storms have merged, forcing the team to abandon Atlantis and looking for a shelter for the night. The whole city has emptied, leaving behind a small team to make it work, composed of Doctor Rodney McKay (David Hewlett), the commander of Stargate, Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Tori Higginson), two guards who could also wear red shirts, and of course, John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan). While this happens, Koyla (Robert Davi), the commander of Genii, passes smugglers in a team of soldiers who pretend to be injured athosians, and starts quickly with his Atlantis use plan to defeat the Wraith.

When Sheppard returns to the city, he finds that Koyla torturing McKay and Weir’s attempts to dissuade the leader of Genii fell into the ears of a deaf. Alone in the city, Sheppard transforms into John McClane, until he seized a radio to communicate with Koyla, after having removed two genii in an improvised ambush. From this moment, the rest of the Stargate: Atlantis two parts becomes the best science fiction version of Die hard Again.

The most dangerous man in Atlantis

During “The Eye”, with the storm which is dangerously closer to the outside, Sheppard begins systematically by eliminating the Genii, of an ambush of smoked grenade which ends with a photo of a life detector showing only one living person in the room. Paying for years of narration in an instant, while the Full Genii Invasion Force goes through the Stargate, Sheppard manages to light the shield and remove 60 in a quick moment. The first episodes of Stargate: Atlantis had shown John Sheppard as a Wisecracking jokerBut from that moment, fans understood how dedicated to his team he was and how he was the most dangerous man in Atlantis.

THE Stargate: Atlantis The episode started with the Genii in control, but piece by piece, Sheppard killed them and but Kolya in a corner, with a last desperate movement. Holding a gun at Weir, Kolya is confident Sheppard will not risk the life of the commander of Stargate. It is then that, with the best line of the episode, and perhaps all his time on the franchise, Sheppard simply says: “I do not live it”, and with a blow, lifts the seat of the city just in time for the storm to strike.

An episode of Stargate Atlantis out of competition

In three shows and several films, Stargate has done incredible things with its modest budget. However, when Stargate: Atlantis Watch the storm striking the city just when the protective shield can finally be high, it is the best visual of the whole franchise. While everything comes up slowly to normal, Sheppard, like all worn -out heroes, quips “These things happen once every 20 years?” How far can we book days off?

The Eye ”is always one of the best episodes in the series according to Stargate: Atlantis fans, thanks not only to a different version of the science fiction Franchise, but to show, without saying why John Sheppard is in the position in which he is. Stargate SG-1 gave episodes of characters projectors, including Tuy’c try to live among humans, and Atlantis kept the living tradition with subsequent episodes highlighting everyone from McKay to Ronon Dex (Jason Mamoa before Game of Thrones), and even Richard Woolsey has become the hero several times in season 5. There is something to look at a character to turn the switch when the back is against the wall and to win the day not by being larger and harder, but more intelligent and more artisanal, which will always be attractive.
