Ironheart Episode 3 Features A Cameo From The First MCU Villain (But Not How You Think)
This article contains spoilers For “Ironheart” season 1, episode 3, “we in danger, girl”.
In 2008, Stark Industries COO Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) became the first villain in the Marvel cinematographic universe in “Iron Man”. After having fed up with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr. )’s kidnapping Tony Stark to lose the manufacture of weapons (not to mention the incredibly disditated way that Stark survived, the worried businessman, which Stane had personally arranged to reconstruct himself and have traveled the iron of the gigantic battle.
In 2025, Obadiah Stane appeared once again in the MCU – but this time, its shape is considerably less imposing. In “Ironheart” season 1, episode 3, “We in danger, Girl”, Riri Williams’ (Dominique Thorne) Scruffy Joe McGillicuddy (Alden Ehrenreich) asks his aid in an urgent technical material, which turns out to be a bit of a bodily horror in the form of an implant of Cybernetic Malfunction. In a way, it is not even the strangest thing in Joe. It also stubbornly maintains the appearances of a regular and slightly cheesy suburban guy despite also having a bunker full of very illegal advanced technologies.
Fortunately, this episode provides some answers on the guy. While treating the short-circuited equipment inside an open wound in Joe’s arm, Riri searches in a kitchen cupboard for a disinfectant and falls on a large plastic bag full of strange powder. When she realizes that it is Joe’s ashes of the father, she drops the bag and that some content pour out. The sweet chaos that followed reveals the “Obadiah S.” Labo the bag, and Le Penny finally falls: these are the deadly remains of the embarrassment of Obadiah in the past … which, in turn, means that Joe is the son of the antagonist of “Iron Man”.
The Stane family makes a major return to Ironheart
The revelation that Joe, whose real name is Ezekiel Stane, therefore keeps with casualness the ashes of his father speaks volumes about his attitude towards his old man. In fact, he quickly informed Riri that the two were not closed and continues to suck up the overturned ashes with very little concern. Indeed, he is fully aware of the way in which the events of “Iron Man” have played and made it mission in life to avoid becoming his father.
Since Azekiel is now affiliated with an armored superhero and his comic strip counterpart is a supervillain, he remains to be seen how much he will be able to keep this special program. On his credit, however, he absolutely recognizes that the fate of jokes tries to play on him when the Riri extremely Tony Stark and his armor costume enter his life. This insight, as well as the fear of being exposed as a stane, is a major reason for its initial reluctance to help it.
As it stands, there is no way to know where the artist is heading formerly known as Joe McGillicuddy. He seems to be a decent person, and the fans who remember “Iron Man 3” and his Mandarin touch Know that the MCU has already played quickly with bad guys from Iron Man. However, the revelation on his true identity and his fear of becoming a super-viola seems to adapt to “Ironheart” wanting to be Marvel’s response to “Breaking Bad”, “ So who knows? Now that he has agreed to let Riri use his very traceable technology, Ezekiel’s fate is really linked to her, which will probably end up doing them either agitated allies or bitter enemies.
The reputation of Obadiah Stane in the MCU remains solid
Ezekiel Stane is perhaps aware of the less salty actions of his father, but the same cannot be said about the rest of the MCU. In fact, as Obadiah has not been the subject of too many references in the universe, “we in danger, girl” serves as a refreshing recall of her surprisingly high heritage.
As Riri’s comments reveal, the general public remembers the technology magnate like a big fall, believing that Stane died in a dramatic plane crash instead of a blood attempt to kill Tony Stark. The dedicated fans of MCU will remember that it is a reference to an agent of cover shield Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) prepared the day after the culmination in “Iron Man”, so technically, this is not new information. However, it is interesting to receive an update from Obadiah Stane which confirms that the history of coverage has maintained throughout the many turbulence that the MCU has gone through since then. After all, while The original end of “Iron Man” left the door open so that the villain of Jeff Bridges returnsThe one we have really obtained very clearly shows that he will not be back in a hurry, so it is perhaps the last that we hear about the character … especially now that there is a whole new stane in town.
The 1-3 episodes of “Ironheart” are now available to see Disney +.
