Kunal Nayyar Explains Why Raj Had To Be Single In The Big Bang Theory Finale

Although most sitcoms end with the characters who combine to live happily forever, there is generally at least one member of the group who is always single. In “Friends”, there was Joey (Matt Leblanc), left alone, so he would be more interesting in his next spin-off. In “How I Met Your Mother”, there was Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), whose marriage collapsed controversially during the duration of about three minutes of time. (Fans have still not forgiven the writers “Himym” for that.)

For “The Big Bang Theory”, there was Raj (Kunal Nayyar). On a show filled with socially incompetent guys who always manage to convince a woman to marry them, Raj is the only man. It is a result that some fans found disappointing. There is a feeling of longtime fans that the show never knew what to do with Raj (who was not even part of the show in its original pilot), and his happy end of end seems to be more proof of this.

But Nayyar himself spoke of the decision To keep single rajAnd he has an optimistic vision. In Jessica Radloff’s book “The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive Insider Story of the Epic Hit Series,” Nayyar explained:

“I thought it was very clever that the only person who wanted love so badly perhaps that he needs to love himself first. He does not need to go through someone else, and it is a very nice way to put an end to the story of a character. He has grown so much in recent seasons as a character, and you saw him become less and less dependent on all the things he thought.

Raj has an important lesson to learn

Some of the most cynical fans can say that all of this is just facing Nayyar, but I’m on its side here. Raj, more than any of the other guys in the main distribution of the “Big Bang theory”, is someone who could benefit from an additional year or two before finding his special person. He was a guy who was unable to speak to women (without the influence of alcohol, at least) until season 6.

He is also someone whose rich parents have paid almost everything in his life, Raj having only become financially independent in recent seasons, long after he has become well established in his field. The result is that it is only in the last two seasons that Raj is able to flourish in his own full man; It is probably better to let him enjoy his confidence and independence for a year or two before settling down.

It will seem weird, but Raj reminds me of Joan a bit of “Mad Men”, insofar as the two characters spend a lot of time looking for love to realize that this is not what they need. Just as Sheldon somehow manages to find a woman before Raj (an apparently impossible feat from the point Beaten in The Punch by Peggy in the series final. It is a result that would have horrified season 1 Joan, but Season 7 Joan has decided to enhance its independence on traditional marriage. She always believes in love, but she no longer needs it to make her happy.

This is perhaps the first time that anyone who spoke of Raj Koothrappali and Joan Holloway in the same sentence, and it could also be the last. But when it comes to transmitting to viewers the lesson that marriage is not always the most important thing in life, these are two peas in a pod.
