This article contains spoilers for the “final destination” franchise, including “Bloodlines”.
One of the strengths of the “final destination” of the 2000s is the way Glen Morgan and James Wong have reconfigured The premise of Jeffrey Reddick on a boy who helps each other and the others escape their fate after having the premonition of a deadly plane accident In a Slasher film where the killer is literally death. Not only did it mean that death has never been personified or never really seen in the film, but it also allowed Morgan and Wong (the latter being also the director) to present each scene of killing as a series of mishaps and climbing accidents, essentially transforming each piece of move A Rube Goldberg-Esque de Chaos machine. When “Final Destination 2” was made a few years later, the filmmakers could simply write a suite that repeated the premise of the first film, and ostensibly, they did. It is a formula that would work, as proved “Final Destination 3” and “The Final Destination”, two films which have no link between them or the previous payments beyond the basic premise and an indication that they all take place in the same universe.

However, the filmmakers of “Final Destination 2” added an intelligent wrinkle as a result: not only did he imply another fatal accident than a few selected people survive due to a premonition which made them be tracked down by death, he also explained how each of the survivors of their accident had already avoided death before, thanks to the survivors of Flight 180 of the first film. Thus, if flight 180 had killed everyone on board, as originally planned by death, the survivors of the road accident would never have been present in this accident, and even less. The twist began to attach The entire franchise “final destination” Together, a concept that was only mentioned by passing during the “final destination 3.” This concept seemed to be a lip service paid by the intelligent end of “Final Destination 5” This revealed that the survivors of this film became two of the condemned passengers of the flight 180, making “5” a secret prequel of the first film.

Now, the last episode of the franchise, “Bloodlines of final destination,” apparently brought the concept, although more subtlely. Although there is not a moment in “Bloodlines” which is similar to the scenes of “2” and “5” in terms of connection of the series, there is a strongly implicit link between the events of “Bloodlines” and all the franchise, which means that the story of “final destination” can be a large Goldberg Rube machine itself.
The consequences of the 1969 Skyview disaster
The “Final Destination” series Apparently adopted the implicit idea that some people may have premonitions of their death, and that if they choose to modify these events, death will try to come (and, in most cases, succeeds). Although the events of the first two films “Final Destination” and “Final Destination 5” are linked, the series has so far established that a relationship with a person who may have survived death before is not a prerequisite for death to be interested in someone. However, “Bloodlines” changes all this, in a way that is both daringly daring and impressive.

In “Bloodlines”, we are shown the first example of a premonition and a catastrophe avoided never represented in the series. In 1969, the SkyView restaurant celebrated its great opening before the calendar, a fact that the staff was too happy to sing. Iris (Brec Basinger) is taken to the SkyView on a date by his handsome regular, Paul Campbell (Max Lloyd-Jones), and all the disturbing omens of Doom that Iris takes up are rejected by his side effects of her new pregnancy. However, after Iris experiences a premonition representing the violent death of almost all those who attended the opening of Skyview, she is able to warn the guests and avoid a massive tragedy. Immediately, it marks a departure for the franchise, because where the previous Cassandra figures of the series could only convince some other people to join them to leave the future Doom site, Iris manages to save hundreds of lives.

As Iris’s granddaughter, Stefani (Kaitlyn Santa Juana), and the rest of his extended family discover him to their horror, this means that death was deprived of hundreds of promised lives this fateful day, and all the following descendants of people who are not killed during the SkyView disaster are people who, according to death, have never been supposed to exist. This triggers the main intrigue of “Bloodlines”, revealing that death seeks to wipe the family of Iris out of existence. Fortunately, thanks to the abundant quantity of notes and research that a foliar iris gathered during her life, it is involved that many other people are affected in the same way. At one point, a post-it note with the year “2000” is seen on the IRIS and the distribution of the Iris and Stefani calendar. It is true: “Bloodlines” deduces that each film of “final destination” is the result of the aversion of the SkyView disaster, and that the whole franchise is a large chain of victims of the Domino chain.
The secret story of William Bludworth
This unified theory of the “final destination” is not only there to explain how and why the characters in past films have premonitions of death, why they are targeted in the first place, etc. He also provides an intelligent explanation for one of the other oldest mysteries in the series, namely the background of William Bludworth (Tony Todd). Since its appearance in the first “final destination”, Bludworth has seemed very well informed about death, its various rules, its models and how someone has driven out by death can escape their fate. With each successive appearance, fans speculation about the origins of Bludworth have grown, especially since it seemed to be the only authority around death. Although represented as a coroner who had funeral salons, some people began to theorize that Bludworth could somehow be linked to death, either as an angel, a devil, or as a physical manifestation of the force itself.

Since Todd, who died in November of last yearIt was categorical that he appeared in “Bloodlines” to give the character an appropriate commitment, it is not surprising that the film has the opportunity to clarify who is Bludworth and how he knows so much. It turns out that William was also present at the SkyView restaurant in 1969, the child of a woman occurring during the great opening. Iris’ actions have saved his life. Thus, Bludworth and Iris made a friendship for life when they both tried to avoid death by studying them closely, the two sharing the information and advice along the way. Unfortunately, Bludworth and Iris have been so successful that they have almost simultaneously contracted cancer, which was the last resort of death in his long quest to claim them. Although the disappearance of Iris is accelerated by other circumstances as it sacrifices itself to prove that the threat of death is real for Stefani, it is involved that Bludworth will succumb to his illness.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of this overall explanation of the franchise that “Bloodlines” presents is that it is not pushed on the public’s face. In other words, this is not an example of “lines” trying to trade on nostalgia by referring directly to all previous films, but it is rather a cool concept that is there if you want. The explanation is satisfactory enough for the series to use “lines” as a culminating chapter, or that it could use it as a springboard for several additional suites to follow. If the “Final Destination” series has as much gas in the tank as the promises “Bloodlines”, then I hope that the latter is the case.
