Major spoilers Before for “Andor” season 2, to the final of the series.
“Andor” is not only the best “Star Wars” experience for decades, it is undoubtedly the most timid and poignant television show currently broadcast. It is a painful representation of the evils of fascism and How genocide can occur under everyone’s nose. It is also a phenomenal history on the cost of the revolution and the sacrifices made in the fight against tyranny.

The showrunner Tony Gilroy relies on the world introduced into “Star Wars: Rogue One”, which showed us the dirty side of the rebellion: assassinations, espionage and mistrust. It is a spectacle on the extraordinary effort necessary to start the spark which will eventually light the fire that will burn the Empire. We saw the idealism of Karis Nemik (Alex Lawther), who really believed in the purity of the struggle and tried to inspire others with his manifesto. We also have learned more about Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) And how his experiences in the wars of clones transformed him into an extremist who sees only the final objective.
While “Andor” approaches the start of “Rogue One” in its second season, the rebellion has random insurrection acts to an alliance organized with the ranks, a hierarchy and an appropriate base. We have seen My Mothma (Geneviève O’Reilly) finally leaves shadows And abandon Coruscant to become a public chief of rebellion. We watched the establishment of a rebellious base on Yavin IV and witnessed the Ghorman massacre who inspired countless people to join the cause.

In the last three episodes of season 2 of “Andor”, the rebel alliance has become the one we know of the original trilogy: a military force that beats the Empire and restores the Republic (for a little while). But it is also the rebellious alliance which makes many mistakes – like almost blowing your chance to obtain the plans of the stars of death, or erase one of the founding fathers of the rebellion of history: Luthen Rael.
Luthen Rael was not perfect, but his investment in the rebellion was epic
Luthen Rael of Stellan Skarsgård is a lot. He is a man of a great sense of fashion, An incredible speech donorAnd a burner of his life for the sunrise that he has never been able to see. Luthen has always been the only person fully aware of the sacrifices required for the cause: a man ready to accept that he would probably not survive to see the victory of the rebellion or draw awards, which nevertheless devoted his life to the construction of this victory.

In episode 10, Luthen learns the star of the death of Lonni Jung (Robert Emms) – another unknown hero of the rebellion – and sacrifices herself so that Kleya (Elizabeth Dulau) can deliver this vital information to the rebellious alliance. And yet, when they receive the Intels in the final of the series, the rebellious command (mainly Bail Organa) immediately refuses to believe it and calls a paranoid fool. At least Cassian (Diego Luna) calls them, recognizing that people who now direct the rebellion have abandoned a fraction of the sacrifice of Luthen.
Admittedly, when we see the base of the rebel alliance on Yavin IV in episode 11, Luthen has long been distant from the rest of the rebellion. His inability to compromise or trust others alienated him from the very thing he helped to create. Luthen was right in his speech to Lonni That his anger, his ego, his reluctance to Yelld and his eagerness to fight put him on a path from which there was no escape. Luthen built the bridges between people and groups who finally led to the rebel alliance, but he also destroyed any bridge that would connect this work to him. NOW? All this work is erased from the annals of rebellious history.

The rebellious alliance was very wrong
Between “Rogue One” and “Andor”, Tony Gilroy really made a duty to show the rebellion hindered by loose politicians and without spin of the rebellious command – another way the show is quite opportune. We have seen many stories (real and fictitious) on the madness of forming a government with soldiers, but “Andor” also shows the problem of politicians who run a rebellious army.

It is incredibly poignant that the last 3 episodes show how Luthen has moved away from Tebellion, only for episode 12 to then return this and show that this rebellious command has moved away from each cell that had preceded it in an attempt at legitimacy. They erased Luthen from history books and alienated Gerrera by sending her spies. This is how we end up with a relatively black and white conflict in the first “Star Wars”, because Rebel Command worked tirelessly by painting an image of their organization as a pure and clean cut. But we saw the opposite. It was not clean, it was not pretty. The story of the rebellion was messy, ugly and violent, with many mobile pieces that have entered and left history, and have done bad things in the name of the good.

We saw this propaganda at work in episode 9 just after my Mothma delivered her speech. In the episode, we hear that The Rebel Command wants to “rewrite history” and have a second speech delivered after his SenateAnd arrive at the rebellious base on Yavin IV triumphant with a rebellious escort. It was their way of erasing the role of Cassian and Luthen in the escape of my, which makes a planned and heroic company look like a desperate and ugly fight to escape the Senate. This made the Yavin IV cell the only legitimate face of the rebellion, ignoring all those who preceded.
Just as “Rogue One” aimed to show the sacrifices that people made for the rebellion and to shed light on the names that have been forgotten by history “, Andor” tells the unprecedented story of the true father of the rebellion. The galaxy far, far may not know its name, but they owe everything to Luthen Rael.
